Police stand guard under a giant display covering Lenin’s mausoleum and bearing the slogan “Everything Will Be Alright” at a concert in Red Square. The concert was one of a series of events to celebrate Russia Day, declared a national holiday in 1992 by then-president Boris Yeltsin to mark the date in 1990 when the Russian Parliament declared independence from the Soviet Union.
